What You Need to Know?
Select courses provided by VIP Community Services offer continuing education credits, units and/or clock hours depending on which licensing board grants approval. This page provides licensed professionals with an overview of our continuing education process. It is highly recommended that prior to taking any course(s) offered by VIP Community Services, that review the contents of this page as well as consult with your licensing board to assure that course(s) you are registered for meets their requirements for applying credits, units and/or clock hours to your respective licensing renewal. When selecting a course to register on our website, please use our Continuing Education Course Approval Code Guide listed below to assist in determining which course(s) may qualify for renewing your license(s).
Continuing Education Approval Descriptions:
Courses approved by the Association of Social Workers Board (ASWB), Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. Participants are encouraged to check with their state licensing board prior to registering to assure course(s) will count towards the renewal of your license. State licensing boards have the final authority in determining whether a course meets their established requirements to apply credits towards your renewal application. Participants who complete courses approved by ACE will receive Continuing Education Credits (CE’s). These courses are conducted in “live, interactive, online-virtual” format and are intended for Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Licensed Social Workers (LCSW). Courses approved by the New Jersey Social Work Continuing Education Approval (CEA) Collaborative. Participants are encouraged to check with their state licensing board prior to registering to assure course(s) will count towards the renewal of your license. Courses approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), Approved Continuing Education Providers (ACEP) program. Participants are encouraged to check with their state licensing board prior to registering to assure course(s) will count towards the renewal of your license. State licensing boards have the final authority in determining whether a course meets their established requirements to apply credits towards your renewal application. Participants who complete courses approved by ACE will receive Continuing Education Credits (CE’s). These courses are conducted in “live, interactive, online-virtual” format and are intended for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC’s). Course Content Level Descriptions:
Beginning level courses introduce learners to a content area; include information about a condition, treatment method, or issue; and involve learning and comprehending content.
Intermediate level courses provide information that builds on knowledge practitioners with some experience already have. These courses focus on skill building or adding knowledge, possibly following a brief overview of basic information, and involve using information in concrete situations and understanding the underlying structure of the material.
Advanced level courses provide content for participants who have been working in the content area and have a clear understanding of the issues. These courses cover and address the complexities involved in the work and involve synthesizing material to create new patterns or structures or evaluating material for a specific purpose.
Course Completion Requirements:
Social workers must attend the entire course, sign in/out, and complete a course evaluation to earn continuing education credits (CE), continuing education units (CEU’s) or continuing education clock hours, depending on course approval status. Certificates of completion will be distributed at the end of course completion on scheduled day of course taking place. For online courses, participants must sign TRAINING ACKNOWLEDGMENT & ATTESTATION statement on evaluation form. In addition, for courses administering Post-tests, a score of 70% or more must be rendered in order to receive certificate of completion of continuing education.

This course, Understanding the Culture of Urban Poverty Course Approval #190213-1135, provided by VIP Community Services is approved for continuing education by the New Jersey Social Work Continuing Education Approval Collaborative, which is administered by NASW- NJ. CE Approval Collaborative Approval Period: March 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020. New Jersey social workers will receive (5) general & social/cultural competence credits continuing education hours for participating in this course. Applies to: New Jersey Licensed Social Workers.
VIP Community Services, Provider #1600, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. VIP Community Services maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 07/05/2019-07/05/2022. Applies to: PA, DE and MD Licensed Social Workers.
