The fourth course in Redeemer Health’s DEI training series provides leaders with concrete definitions, concepts, and theories to better understand the history of systemic racism and injustice in our society. More specifically, during this training, a comprehensive overview of five tenets embedded in Critical Race Theory will be used as the foundation for increasing awareness and enhancing knowledge around privilege and oppression in America.  Participants will develop skills necessary to engage in “courageous” conversations around race relationships and best-practices to promoting principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace.

Prerequisite: Participants should have completed DEI Courses 1, 2 and 3 prior to taking this course.

Objectives: After completing this course, participants will…

  1. Review key definitions associated with promoting social justice.
  2. Gain increase knowledge on how the “intersections” of ones social identities (race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) can potentially create experience(s) of oppression.
  3. Be able to re-state the Five Tenets of Critical Race Theory (CRT).
